Monaco - Part 1

Last saturday I went for 4 days to Monaco! :D
This city-state is amazing. Not just because "WeAllLoveMonaco", but because it's really a place where you have an atmosphere like nowhere else.
You can like it or not, but everything there is all about money: all the prettiest cars of the world, the enormous yachts, the huge apartments, the pretty (botoxed) ladies, the luxurious hotels, the celebrities, the casino, the castle...

W zeszłą sobotę  wyjechałam na 4 dni do Monako! :D

The area of Monaco is 2,02 km2, for a population of 36.371 which is making it the second smallest country of the world (the Vatican is the smallest, 0,44 km2).

How did the Grimaldi started in Monaco? Not so prince charming as it could sound...
On the windy night of the 8th of january 1297, Francesco Grimaldi, called the "malizia" (the cunning), and his cousin, Rainier I, knocked at the gate of the fortress, dressed as Franciscan monks ("monaco" in italian, but that's a coincidence), and asked for a sleepover. As the guardians let them go in, Francesco took his sword out of his frock and called his hidden small army. They all got in, killed the Genoese and took the castle.
This is how Monaco got into the Grimaldi's hands. And this event is commemorated on the monegasque coat of arms, on which the supporters are two monks armed with swords.

Pozabijali  zaskoczonych Genueńczyków i przyjeli twierdze.

In 1314, the Grimaldi's got officially the power over the rock, and are still having it. They just lost it for a couple of years, 1793-1814, when Monaco became, in this period, french.

The square of the palace

If you are walking in Monaco from one side to the other, in the direction of the palace, you can find very nice places, like shopping areas, a big open swimmingpool, nice buildings and nice views.

If you are a football fan, for sure you will enjoy the "Champions Promenade" with the footprint of famous players ;) My favorite is ... Zidane!! :D

Zidane!! :D

In front of the Hermitage Hotel, you can find one of the 45 copies of the famous statue of " the thinker" of Auguste Rodin.

Na przeciwko hotelu Hermitage, możecie zobaczyć jedną z 45 kopii, znanej rzeżby "Myśliciela" Auguste'a Rodina.

And of course the most famous place in Monaco is the casino ;) But I will tell more about this in the next post ;)

Black & Gold

What are you thinking about, when I'm telling you "Black & Gold"?
Personally, I'd answer: black chocolate and my gold lucky coin I'm always having with me :) To be honest, I'm not a big fan of black chocolate... I definitely prefere the milk one AND... Nutella! :D

O czym myślicie jak mówie "Czarny & Złoty"?
Osobiście, odpowiedziałabym: czarna czekolada i moja złota moneta na szczęście, którą zawsze mam przy sobie :) Tak szczerze mówiąc, nie jestem wielką fanką czarnej czekolady... Zdecydowanie wolę mleczną I ...    Nutelle! :D

Talking of black, gold and chocolate, what do you think about these cuties? Getting hungry? ;)

A propos czerni, złota i czekolady, co myślicie o tych słodkich maleństwach? Zgłodnieliście? ;)
